Anthony Pizzoferrato (b. Columbus, OH USA) an Italian-American documentary photographer and photojournalist has called Yerevan, Armenia home since 2017. He places focus on current events and long-term projects, while diving deep into the complex narratives of conflict, history, politics, and social and environmental issues, focusing particularly on Post-Soviet countries and the Middle East.
At his core, he is a documentarian, storyteller, and visual historian passionate about producing work with lasting human and societal impact that is grounded in authenticity and deep narrative exploration. Anthony is deeply committed to visual storytelling that fosters awareness and dialogue, which often highlights underreported stories and vulnerable communities, rooted in close access, sensitivity, and a deep respect for the people and places he documents.
Over the years, his photographs have been published by international outlets, including Time, BBC, CNN, Politico, Bloomberg, Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), Die Zeit, Le Figaro, Libération, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, Meduza, and Novaya Gazeta among others.
In addition to editorial work, he continues to develop personal, long-term documentary projects that reflect the complexity and resilience of life in the regions he covers.
He is currently a contributed to The Associated Press.
